Recently, a public awareness program was held on “Cleft Lip/Palate “and “Burns in Children” at QIH. The Purpose of this program was to create awareness among public and professionals regarding children with cleft deformity and prevention and management of burns in children.
The speaker Dr. Sabeen Masroor (Associate Consultant Plastic, reconstructive and Aesthetic surgery) at QIH presented an overview of Cleft deformity. The various stages and timing of management was explained and need for multidisciplinary approach was highlighted.
Madam Amina Imran , a Speech Language Pathologist at QIH, highlighted feeding problems and speech dysfunction in cleft children and presented practical solutions and equipment available for such children.
A large number of people from different walks of life attended the program.
